- Clean the surface with alcohol or window cleaner. Use masking tape to tape both ends in place. Using the bottom of the decal as a guide, make adjustments to make sure the decal is straight and level.
- When you have the decal where you want it, tape the center down. This will act as a “hinge” and will also hold the decal in place.
- Take either side and peel back the top layer (this will pull the graphics up with it). Pull it back to the center tape. Cut and remove the portion of the wax paper backing (the portion without the decal on it)
- Hold the transfer paper just above the surface of the boat (making sure there is very little slack). Start near the center (moving towards the end) and smooth it down with your hands in an up and down motion. Use enough pressure to force air bubbles out from underneath the graphic. (a “squeegee” also works great for this application)
- Remove the center tape and peel back the remaining side. Discard the wax paper backing and repeat step four.
- Smooth down the decal one more time with your hands to make sure that it’s properly adhered. Slowly, pull the transfer paper back on itself. You can pop any air bubbles with a pin and rub the air out with your finger. You are all set to hit the water!
